Jami Gold – Pure Sacrifice
Introduction to this book was like a great Friday Find. I am a new reader to this author, but I thoroughly enjoyed her writing skills and her ability to weave an interesting almost believable tale for someone who knew from the beginning that this was fantasy i.e. fiction.
Markos Aborstead is a guardian that has been sent by his world to protect the “chosen virgin” Celia Hawkins. Celia is an unsuspecting college student that has lived her life under the impression that she is invisible to everyone including her family. Upon discovering that someone was paying attention to her, Celia was happy to befriend Markos until strange things continued to happen leading her to believe that Markos was not the person that he led her to believe. Celia’s life was hit with tragedy and as she starts to unravel, Markos becomes her lifeline. When she discovers that he is in need she sets out to do whatever is needed to save him and his world.
Celia and Markos are in for the fight of their lives. Individually they have to trust in the people that they think they know. Collectively, they have to trust in each other and believe that their love can and will overcome all obstacles preventing the happy life that they both yearn and deserve.
Ms. Gold touches on subjects that some might find serious. Oddly enough, these serious subjects are what brought these characters and storyline to life. I applaud this author for the creative risk she took and she should know that her risks paid off in full.
